Welcome to your child’s first grade classroom!  My name is Melissa Hodges, and I will be your child’s teacher. I have a B.S. from Spring Hill College in Elementary Education. This is my 14th year of teaching. I am originally from Dalton, Georgia. Spring Hill College brought me to Mobile in 1994 and I’ve lived here ever since. 10 years ago I married Don Hodges, also an SHC alumni and a native of Montgomery. We are proud parents of two boys and one baby girl. Stephen is 6 years old and is a first grader this year! Hogan is 4 and he attends our 4k program here at St. Ignatius. Hannah Louise is our  baby girl and she had her first birthday in May. She attends the MDO program on Campus.  We are definitely a St. Ignatius family and we LOVE it!

                      My goal this year is to provide a positive learning atmosphere for your child to feel confident about his/her abilities.  I believe what happens in this classroom will affect your child’s future.  Your child’s time will be well spent.

           We have a fantastic group of children in this class.  I am looking forward to a terrific year ahead.  If we all work together I know this year will be fulfilling and successful for everyone!
