1B Weekly Reading Homework

Please plan to read with your child for 10-15 minutes each night.  This paper will be sent home on Monday and is due Friday or the following Monday . 

Children need to talk about the selections they read in order to improve vocabulary and comprehension.

BEFORE READING: Ask your child to talk about the cover, the author, and the title.  Glance through the selection to look over any pictures, maps, or illustrations.

DURING READING: Ask questions such as, “What do you think will happen next?”

AFTER READING: Ask questions such as, “What is your favorite part?” and “Does this book remind you of any other story that you have read?”  Try to vary your questions so that you and your child are engaged in conversation about the book.
