St. Ignatius of Loyola Junior Honor Society

St. Ignatius of Loyola Elementary Honor Society

The honor societies at St. Ignatius are chartered and affiliated with the national organization and, as such, are bound by its rules and regulations. Membership is open to students who meet the required standards of scholarship, leadership, service, citizenship, and character. Students are selected by a five-member Faculty Council. Students in the second semester of fifth grade through eighth grade who have a cumulative GPA of 95% or better are eligible. A history of leadership experiences and participation in school or community service is also required. Character is evaluated using school disciplinary records and faculty input. Members of the faculty are solicited for input regarding the student’s service activities, character, citizenship, and leadership. A majority vote of the Council is necessary for selection. Once inducted, a member must maintain the same level of performance in all five criteria that led to initial selection.

On February 1, 2010, St. Ignatius School held its second annual  induction of students into the National Junior and Elementary Honor Society.   The purpose of this organization is to create enthusiasm for scholarship, to stimulate a desire to render service, to promote leadership, to develop character, and to encourage good citizenship in the students.
