“Hot Wings”

Game Day Schedule:

 

 7:00 a.m. – Door open

     *Compliance Check-in in pit (7:00 – 8:00).  Each team will receive five (5) pit passes. Please turn in your Driver Roster.

     *Exhibit Hall opens – booths must be assembled by 8:45 a.m.  Please bring a power strip and heavy duty extension cord.  We will have some on hand, but want to make sure everyone has power capabilities at your booth.  Please bring clean-up items such as a broom, dust pan, trash bags, etc.  We want to ensure that we leave Davidson’s cafeteria clean as they gave it to us.  Thank you for your help! (Teams are encouraged to set up Exhibit on Friday if possible.  Time:  3:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.)

     *Registration – the teacher/mentor in charge of Game Day must register.  You will receive the following at registration:  return of your engineering notebook (this must be in your Exhibit all day Saturday), pizza tickets for team members, and teacher/mentor luncheon tickets.  If competing in the t-shirt design contest, please turn in your shirt at registration.

 

8:45 a.m. - Two team members will line up with their robot in the hall for the Official Opening Parade.  All others should be seated.

 

9:00 a.m.  Opening Ceremony!  Davidson High School Color Guard and Mr. Reggie Copeland.

 

9:15 a.m. - Game Begins

 

9:15 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. – Robot Competition seeding rounds and Exhibit Hall open.

     *Please keep your exhibit booth manned at all times.

 

12:00 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. – Lunch

     *Exhibit Hall closes – everyone must leave and we will lock the doors for security.

     *Robot Competition will resume at 1:30.

     *Team members with tickets will receive 2 slices of pizza and 1 drink.

     *Five teachers/mentors from each school (with tickets) will attend a private luncheon in the band room.

     *Tentatively:  Cane’s chicken will sell box lunches for parents and siblings.  More details to follow shortly.

     *Davidson High School Basketball Team will be selling chicken dinners.  Location:  in the front of the high school.

     *Balsa wood airplanes will be handed out as a fun activity.  Please ask your visitors and team members to help clean up.  Remember…we are guests!

 

1:30 p.m.  The action begins again!

     *Seeding rounds continue leading into semi-final and final rounds.

     *Exhibit Hall is open.

 

 

3:00 p.m.  Begin taking down Exhibits.  All displays must be removed by 7:00 p.m.

 

5:00 p.m.   Awards Ceremony - Auditorium.  (This time is only approximate).

 

6:00   Mandatory Meeting of Advancing teams!  30 minutes in length!

     *We will advance the top five (5) teams.  1st, 2nd, 3rd BEST Award, 1st, 2nd Place Robot.

 

7:00    Sleep, Party, whatever….it is over!!!

 

NOTES:  Very Important!!! Please read the following to your students.

· NO FOOD OR DRINKS IN THE GYM OR AUDITORIUM!!!!      

· MUST WEAR SHIRTS AND NO BODY PAINT!              

· No large flags in gym.  They are too large and we will have too many people.  The flags will obstruct the view.  (These are the flags often seen at football games).

· Bring spirit poles so the judges can find you easily. Team number on the top!

· Must use the actual crystal that came in your returnable kit, otherwise we may have interference.

· Only Jubilee BEST volunteers, judges, and VIPs are allowed in the Hospitality Room.  Definitely no students.

· No frisbees, beach balls, airplanes or items that may end up on the playing field will be allowed in the gymnasium.  This is to ensure no interference with the playing field.

· YOU MUST HAVE A PIT PASS TO BE IN THE PIT.  YOU WILL BE GIVEN 5 PIT PASSES IN YOUR REGISTRATIION PACKET.  PLAN WITH YOUR TEAM HOW YOU WILL USE THESE ON GAME DAY….NO EXEPTIONS.

No Walkie – talkies, they will interfere with the radio controls for the robots.

 

 

Sales & Marketing Presentation and Friday Driving Practice

1:00 – 5:00 p.m. Sales and Marketing Presentations

     Upon arriving to Davidson’s campus follow signs to the presentations – they will take place in classrooms in the gymnasium.  Your team MUST be there 15 minutes prior to your scheduled time

     IMPORTANT:  All rooms have white boards to project on to.  There will be a table in the front of the room for your computer and projector.  Please bring a power strip and extension cord.  There are plugs directly underneath the white board.  We will try to have the room set-up to be conducive for a presentation.  If you need any other items, please let us know. (We will have additional power strips in each room for your use).

      AGAIN…PLEASE SHOW UP ON TIME.  IF YOU MISS YOUR TIME SLOT, WE HAVE NO MAKE-UP TIMES ALLOTED.  SORRY!

Driving Practice:  Each team is allotted a 30 minute driving practice on Friday.  Your assigned time is the same as your Sales & Marketing time-slot. If you have a driver in the presentation, he/she will be allowed to drive once back from the presentation.  Our Field Commander (Matthew) and his team will accommodate for this.  Teams not competing in the BEST Award…send your drivers anytime during 1:00 – 4:00.
